So for my birthday my best friend Ciara spoiled me absolutely rotten and surprised me with tickets to Rosie Connolly's Beauty Masterclass. For those of you who don't know who Rosie is, she a fashion and beauty blogger as well as a make up artist. We are huge fans of hers so when Ciara surprised me with tickets it is safe to say I screamed like a kid at Christmas!!
The Masterclass was held in Harvey Nichols Cafe in Dundrum shopping centre. We were greeted with a glass of bubbly and a goodie bag from Harvey Nichols, a piece of heaven for every beauty fan! To say we were in awe of this woman is a complete understatement! From the minute she entered the room she was so friendly, bubbly, upbeat, down to earth and so passionate about beauty, make up and the room full of women sitting in front of her. For the next hour and a half she took us all through a step by step makeover using Stila products. It felt like we were all a group of friends and not at an event, it was such a relaxing environment which was all down to Rosie. She was so funny and if she made a mistake her changed her mind about the look she was honest and open instead of treating us like fans, she treated us like close friends.
After the Masterclass we all headed into the Harvey Nichols Department store for a closer look at the products Rosie used throughout the tutorial and for a chat with Rosie. Myself and Ciara were so nervous meeting this confident and beautiful woman who we admired so much. On our way up to meet Rosie Ciara encouraged me to speak to Rosie about my blog as from her snapchats and instagram posts Rosie too suffers from Anxiety. I didn't want to bother her or annoy her by talking about my blog, it was her night and I am sure she gets thousands of girls telling her about their blogs. When it was our turn to get our picture taken, I finally built up the courage to speak to Rosie about my blog and her reply was the most encouraging and eye opening one which I never expected.
Rosie told us that just before she left her house for the Beauty Master class she had a really bad panic attack. Myself and Ciara were so shocked to hear this as she seemed so confident and relaxed during her Masterclass. She told us that she suffers really bad and asked me to send her on my blog link as she would love to read it. She asked me if I suffer too but I was barely able to answer as I was slightly fangirling and also shocked by how honest she was about her anxiety. All I could think about is how brave this woman is to admit to two fans of hers how although she seems like she has it all together that she too experiences some moments of panic and anxiety, that she too is a normal person who has experienced grief and tough times. It is such a breathe of fresh air for people who are in the public eye to be so open about their experience with Mental Health issues. It shows that they too have a normal life and anxiety is something that they experience, that their life isn't as picture perfect as we like to think.
As I could barely speak Ciara told Rosie how the blog is doing well and how most of all it is helping me to get better and to learn how to cope with it. Later that night I sent her the link to my blog and she replied straight away saying that she would have a look and that she is glad the blog is helping! Even if she didn't have the time to read the blog or anything the fact that she is so busy with her career and her own life but yet she has all the time in the world for her fans, not only in terms of beauty but those who admire her strength and courage is amazing. The fact that she took the time to reply and acknowledge the blog was so huge for me, and it shows just how humble and down to earth she is.
The next few posts on her Instagram she spoke more about her anxiety and how she had been experiencing moments of panic lately. For me, it is hard to be so honest with you all about how I feel and about my down days, but for someone who has such a huge fan base it is such a brave and courageous thing to do and I have all the respect in the world for her. Sometime I have thoughts of giving up the blog and the fear of what people think about me haunts me from time to time, but meeting this beautiful and inspirational woman has encouraged me even more to keep going and to share more with you all in order to inspire you and help you the way that she has helped me.
So not only did I leave with loads of make up tips but I left with so much more respect for this gorgeous woman, she definitely is just like one of the girls and I can't wait until her next event!
Thanks Rosie for just being you!
