So as promised I am finally giving you an update on my attempt to practice Yoga at home, however this is probably not the update you guys were expecting.
At the minute I am extremely busy and I am focusing a lot on my jogging and on practicing Mindfulness techniques. I have tried to fit some yoga here and there but the truth be told, I am not 100% motivated to really give it ago. I am finding that I have a lot of energy lately, which is such an improvement as just a month ago I had zero energy and took more naps during the day than my two (adorable) dogs! I am using this energy wisely, I am walking a lot, attempting to jog, sticking to a cardio and weights regime at home, meeting up with friends and relatives and throwing myself into the TEFL Course. At the moment, with all of this new found energy I am enjoying every minute of exercising which is giving me that sense of peace, escape and happiness that I was hoping to find by practicing yoga. Not only is my body getting a workout (and hopefully dropping a dress size in the process) but my head is too! During my exercise, my mind is able to take a break from all of the stress and over thinking that I usually let take over my mind. I am learning to live in the moment and just enjoy what is happening in that exact moment. I am slowly getting into a little routine which I think is helping me to focus on what makes me happy and also on living a normal(what ever that is) life instead of constantly worrying about or focusing on my mental health issues. I am finally realising that yes these issues are very much apart of me, but it does not have to be a big part of my life and these issues certainly do not define me as a person. So back to the yoga, I feel like what I am doing now is really working for me and allowing me to find peace. So for those of you who haven't found a way of escaping please feel free to ask and I can hopefully point you in the right direction! For those of you how have found something that works for you, keep on doing what you are doing, there is no better feeling than regaining confidence in yourself and enjoying something like exercise because for some of us, it has been a very long time since we enjoyed something! If any of you guys have practiced Yoga, I would love to hear from you! How do you find it? How did you get into it? How do you recommend I start? I can't wait to hear from you all! Em x

When it comes to exercise, I know that a night on the sofa watching a program or a movie can be more appealing than a walk or a jog, but exercising definitely helps your mind and way of thinking, it is definitely worth it! Below I have a few tips in how to make exercising seem more fun than a chore and how to get the most out of it.
Best of luck and watch this space for Yoga updates!!! Em x Everyone needs a good night’s sleep and sometimes that is a bit difficult when you have a mini me running around in your head all night, but don’t worry you are not alone on this according to RTE news 61% of Irish workers claim fall asleep at work. Here are some tips that we found to help when we were struggling with sleep: Get comfortable Creating a comfortable environment that is ideal for a perfect sleep can help your body to relax and unwind, this environment could be dark and quiet for some or the complete opposite for others. Making sure your mattress and pillows are soft and not lumpy/warn could make all the difference in ensuring that your body is comfy and relaxed. Sleep schedule Keeping a sleep ritual is a good technique to try and get your body into a routine. This includes going to bed and waking up at the same time every day, include weekends. If you are finding it difficult to fall asleep within approximately 15 minutes of your intended sleep scheduled time you should try getting up and doing something to relax your body, maybe read a book or put on a face mask. Keep an eye on your food and drink habits As the saying goes “a healthy diet means a healthy you”. Going to bed stuffed or hungry are neither good ideas as it can cause bloating/uncomfortableness. Ensuring that your liquid intake is limited before sleep can prevent you to disrupt your night’s sleep with trips to the toilet. Although we are lovers of caffeine limited the amount before bed can assist a better sleep, the effects of caffeine takes hours to wear off so closure to your sleep schedule time we would advise maybe a change to decaffeinated coffee and/or tea. Exercise People think that exercise is only good for toning up and getting your body bikini ready, however studies have shown that exercise such as a walk, run, yoga, palates, swim or a game of football help your mind relax and it also boosts the effects of natural sleep hormones. Be careful not to exercise too late in the evening as exercise naturally gives you an energy boost. If you exercise earlier in the day, you will feel the benefits throughout the day and will be more relaxed and tired in the evening. |
